Joshua 1:1-2 Now after
the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake
unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,
2 Moses My servant
is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people,
unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
Moses, the servant of the Lord that had brought the people of God out of the land of Egyptian bondage, was dead. Now, it is time for Joshua, the servant of Moses, to lead the people of God into the land of promise, the Life-Realm.
God said, “Moses My servant is dead.” The Moses realm is over; it is no longer. Although God moved in miraculous ways through Moses, the Moses-ministry is no longer a present manifestation of the workings and movings of God. Now there must be a Joshua that arises, for we must move into a new realm of Spirit. God will now work and move through a new ministry. Instead of a “going-out ministry,” it will be a “going-in ministry.” The leadership and teachings that brought us out of our bondage is seeing a fulfillment. Now the many-membered Joshua must arise. It is not that the Leader had died, but the channel or ministry that the Lord has used. The Lord continues to lead us and teach us, but the teachings are on a higher realm. It would be impossible to progress spiritually following Moses after the Joshua ministry begins. We must arise to the realm of our Leader. Thus, the Lord says, “Now therefore arise!”
We have a decision to make. We can sit down and have faith for God to bring us into the Life-Realm, or we can rise up, submit anew to the Lord, and start moving in. Now therefore arise! Go over this Jordan! Jordan is both the entrance into the Life-Realm and the barrier that keeps us out.
The word “Jordan” means “descender.” You know who the “Descender” is, don’t you? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things. Ephesians 4:10. The “Descender” became the “Ascender.” The Lord descended to the earth-realm of bondage, made provision for our deliverance, and then He ascended to the Life-Realm where all things are fulfilled. That is, the Lord descended as a Moses ministry to the realm of bondage, made provision for our deliverance, and then He ascended into a Joshua ministry to lead us into all that God has promised and made provision for. If we remain on the earth-realm, descender side, then we will be barred from the Life-Realm. We will still be under the Moses ministry instead of the Joshua ministry.
Therefore, you see that Moses typifies the One who descended to bring us out of the Egyptian bondage of the earth realm. He brought us to the place where we must go over Jordan. Now we must cross over Jordan and be led by the “Ascender” into the Life-Realm. It doesn’t just happen. Therefore God says, now therefore arise! Go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people unto the land which I do give to them. We must arise and go over this Jordan taking the people with us. Arise saints! It is time to go over this Jordan!
